David Buck wins LA Phil audtition - Dudamel-land is in the future

Congratualtions are in order for Oregon Symphony's David Buck, who has just won the audition for the position of principal flutist with the LA Philharmonic. Buck has been a terrific principal flutist here for the last few years. Now he will be playing for Mr. Dudamel in the near future! Way to go! The news about this is on the Oregon Symphony's facebook page and in the Oregonian web site.

Good news for David but terrible news for the OSO. David, if you read this, don't go! Sure they can offer more money and the LA Phil is a higher profile orchestra playing in a hall with fine acoustics, but do you want all the pollution, traffic, concrete, fires, etc that go with LA. We need you here in Portland where the people are down to earth and you already get to work with a great music director. There are a lot of reasons to go but stay anyway.
